Oushi Ashioki (
History[]
When Oushi was little, he went with his sister to the compulsory civic center. He there saw a girl who did not speak, but signed. That caught his attention and he began to learn sign language. Although he is Yuki Itose's childhood friend, he isn't particularly close to her because she attended a school for the deaf until she graduated. However, they started talking again in college.
Appearance[]
Oushi has short black hair, his eyes are green in color and he is about half a foot taller than Yuki Itose, but much shorter than Itsuomi Nagi.
Personality[]
Although Oushi has good intentions behind his actions, he is frank, aggressive, and somewhat childish, and his concern for deaf people, and specifically Yuki Itose makes him overprotective.

Yuki Itose[]
Oushi and Yuki are childhood friends, because of this, he knows her quite well. He learned sign language to communicate with her, though he normally uses insulting language toward her. He is concerned for her, which manifests in the way he signs, how he advocates for her, and his controlling behaviour toward her. He is jealous of her relationship with Itsuomi Nagi since he's in love with her. Unfortunately for him, she likes the latter.
Itsuomi Nagi[]
Oushi is clear in his disdain for Itsuomi, even before they interacted and thinks he is weird. Oushi believes Itsuomi does not have good intentions with Yuki, given how Itsuomi and Yuki interact. He also does not respect Itsuomi's relationship with Yuki, asking the former to break up with the latter.
Etymology[]
- The name Oushi means "cherry blossom" (桜) (Ō) and "will, purpose" (志) (shi).
- The kanji "桜" in his given name Ō (桜) can also be written/read as Sakura (桜).
- Oushi's surname Ashioki means "reed" (芦) (ashi) and "offshore, ocean, high sea/high seas/open sea/mid-sea, blue water, main, mare liberum" (沖) (oki).
